Dr Connan News

Dr Peter Connan will be retiring from General Practice at the end of June 2018.

Dr Connan has taken the lead in many specific areas including the Patient Group. After more than 27 years of dedication and commitment to Huntingdon Road and Girton Surgeries we understand that this will be sad news for his patients, as it has been for us all here. However, we would of course like to wish Dr Connan the very best and a most enjoyable, lengthy retirement.

Dr Adam Maguire

Dr Adam Maguire will start work at the surgery from the beginning of August and will take over the care of Dr Connan's patients. Dr Maguire has worked at the surgery in the past when he was a Registrar and hence he knows the practice well. We are looking forward to working with him again

Patient Diabetes Screening

The diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus may go undetected for many years and only present with irreversible complications of the condition. Earlier diagnosis provides the opportunity to treat the condition, and reduce long term damage and complications.

A screening tool developed in a Cambridgeshire general practice predicts the risk of diabetes using a few questions.

We invite the practice patients to use the tool:

https://www.mdcalc.com/cambridge-diabetes-risk-score

What to do with the results:

If you score less than 11, we recommend you repeat the screen in 5 years’ time.

If you score 11 or more, please contact reception asking for a diabetes screening HbA1c blood test. You can book an appointment with the phlebotomist for the HbA1c blood test, and call for the result which will be available the following week.

Please let us know if you can't make your appointment
